Meetings are up to one hour long at most, but students can feel free to drop by for a shorter period of time. The format can be group or individual, depending on your needs students can choose to meet privately if preferred. Students are encouraged to drop by and talk about whatever is important to them. There is no paperwork to fill out, no formal intake, no appointments, and no fees. Queer Let's Talk is considered different from counseling and is not a "clinical" service. Queer Let’s Talk can also be a space to share your personal story and build community connection.

Students also have the opportunity to discuss how therapy might be beneficial and how to navigate higher education settings rooted in heteronormativity. Speaking with a counselor and peers in a dedicated space can aid students in accessing support, gaining perspective, and exploring resources and options. This program is not intended for LGBTQQIA allies. All lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual/aromantic/agender folx are welcome, including folx who identify as questioning. The Queer Let’s Talk program welcomes students who are enrolled at Pacific University and self-identify as LGBTQQIA. It is co-facilitated by an SCC therapist and a peer that identifies as LGBTQQIA (from CGE). The Student Counseling Center (SCC) is partnering with the Center for Gender Equity (CGE) to create Queer Let's Talk! Queer Let's Talk aims to provide informal drop-in consultations and a space for support and community. In Back Bay, this community truly works to elevate queer voices, and places emphasis on the diversity of LGBTQ+ through art.STAY TUNED FOR SUMMER/FALL 2022 OFFERINGS! Just across the river! There are events and shows (like The Donkey Show) for queer folx here. The festival screens films throughout Boston at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) and Museum of Fine Arts, but also extends to Cambridge, showing films at the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square. Angry Asian Girls : Amazing Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI)-run organization that makes really fun and fashionable clothing.ģ. I feel as though in creating the community for ourselves, we can strive for complete inclusivity, meaning that every intersectional or marginalized body and voice feels welcomed, loved, and supported.Ģ. Boston in its entirety may not have enough exclusive spaces for the queer community however, I can say that these spaces do welcome us. I honestly believe that we sometimes have to create these spaces ourselves. The openness, transparency, the reinforcement of diversity, safe spaces, and support are what make Boston great for the queer community. There are organizations for LGBTQ+ as well as cafes, bars, and nightlife that are dedicated to inclusivity for queer folx.
Some people may overlook Dorchester, but this part of Boston is welcoming to the queer community. However, there are many gay bars, cafes, and restaurants in this area as well. I’d say that affordable housing in this area is harder to find nowadays so the queer community is typically elder residents. Also Centre Street is a rather popular area in JP with a lot of queer-friendly restaurants and shops. There are also organizations in JP that advocate for, empower, and enhance the wellbeing of queer/trans people of color. There are people of many diverse backgrounds who reside here.
